Headlight problem! :(?

I fit new headlights to my Renault Clio 2004, and the full beams refuse to work on either of the headlights. The sidelights and everything else works fine, but when i put the headlights on it says the full beams are on (but the full beam sign isnt lit up as bright as normal). It shows both the headlights and full beams on, when in fact the full beams arent on at all. I then switch the full beams on from inside the car and still no light coming from them. If i put on the old light then its fine, but not on new ones...which are no different (apart from colour inside as old ones had grey interior and new ones are black inside). I cant seem to find out what the problem is and its starting to do my head in. HELPP MEEE please :)
