Mend Renault Clio Grande Loss Power Fuel

Loss of power, fuel warning light appearing, 1998 renault clio grande?

Hi there, can anyone help...
Ive been experiencing clicking noises coming from the dashboard for about a week now.... then today and yesterday whilst driving along at 30mph their was a loss of power, lasting only seconds but quite scary. The fuel gauge went down to empty even tho a quarter full and stayed their for about 5 mins. The fuel warning and coolant warning lights also lit up for around 5 mins. Does anyone know what this could be, really worried as have to travel 15 miles to work! Also worried that this is gonna be really expensive to sort out!! :-(

Most likely a faulty relay, possibly a bad earth, or your alternator may be overcharging.
Check all earth cables, especially the engine to chassis.
Get your battery and alternator output checked. Places like kwik-fit, halfords etc used to offer free testing, or just buy a tester from Halfords, they are cheap and simple to use, just clip on to the battery.
If it's not that then it is probably one of the relays failing, that is the clicking noise you hear. You can have a look yourself by removing the cover and feeling for a clicking or hot relay, but you may have to get an auto electrician to check that.
I suggest you do the free checks first.

When did you last have an oil and filter change,if it has been a long time get that done first and ask them if they flush the system,if not get them to do so.Clean oil and the correct oil is critical for these engines.My wife,s Clio had the same problems and is now sorted.Short journeys never burn off all the impurities in the oil and it struggles to do it,s work.
