Mend Hoover HBP 145 Water Emptying

Hoover Special Edit HBP 145 water softener not emptying?

The Water softener in the centre compartment of my Special Edition 1400 HPB 145 is not emptying and the laundry is therefore not getting the benefit of any softener. The clothing is left quite coarse. No amount of cleaning out the compartment helps in any way. It occurs no matter which programme is selected.

To allow the fabric conditioner to flow into the drum, there has to be a small quantity of water flowing into the dispenser to start the syphon. When the softener cycle is running, pull the detergent drawer out a bit so you can see if the water is actually flowing in, as the water holes above the drawer frequently block with soap deposits.
