Mend Champion R484TR Drive Belt Replacement

Champion mower drive belt replacement model R484TR?

Drive belt has been displaced from pulley onto main shaft above pulley. Belt is ragged and contaminated with oil.
Q1- how to dismantle belt housing without leaking oil through exhaust?
Q2- is it likely that an oil seal at the base of the sump would have been damaged?

A1 - its best to drain the oil and fuel out of the machine first before tipping it over.
A2 - if the crankshaft oil seal is leaking, it wouldn't have been caused by the belt, more likely the leak has caused the belt to delaminate. Replacement of the seal means engine out, and crankcase halves split.
