Dishwasher water won't drain away?

Hi
My dishwasher is blocked with stagnant water pooling at the bottom of the machine. I've taken all the moveable parts out of the bottom but still I can't seem to clear the blockage, any advice? It's a Zanussi Aquasave DWS 935. Many thanks

I had that - it was because some of the water from my sink was draining, by mistake, into the dishwasher!

I have the same problem today but if i lie the hose on the floor, all the water drains out by gravity, so there's no blockage in the pipe. this makes me think the pump must be failing as it may need pressue to force water uphill. filter was clogged. now it is clean. My question is can a pump get clogged, is it cleanable?

Well I have the same problem, sort of. I used to think it was something to do with a kink in the drainage pipe or whether it's at the wrong level etc. But then I realized that all I have to do is put the machine back on again and at the end of that wash, there may or may not be water at the bottom of the machine. If there is, I just put it on again - it's a bit like a lottery because sometimes there is water and sometimes there isn't. So that proves to me it's got nothing to do with a blockage or similar restriction in the drainage pipe. I think it's got something to do with the machine being old and that the synchronization between when the water is allowed out and when water is going in has gone wrong. So sometimes when the water is supposed to drain away, it is actually filling up with water. If that happens at the end of the wash cycle, then you are left with a puddle which stinks. Any comments anyone?

May not be the answer, but check the drainage outlet hose. If it has a steep uphill climb to pump the water out, it may not have enough pressure to do so. If so, try re-routing the hose as best you can so that it goes up immediately and then down rather than perhaps a gradual uphill all the way (if that makes sense). This was the problem with our dishwasher when we first fitted ours, but if it has been in the same location for some time, then it will probably need a new pump. Good luck!
