how to reset?

sounds more like a "connection" issue... There are no "reset" features on most DVD players. There are fuses on the main power circuit board that may burn out, but if you can power up your player, that's not an issue.

Remember, all outputs for DVD players are not constantly enabled. Especially for DVD/VCR combinations, there is a "set" of outputs for the DVD and a set for the VCR. For the DVD outputs, there is also usually a selection between RCA composite video OR and s-video/composite video out. The selection is sometimes done with a switch on the back of the player, or through the set-up menu in the DVD players on-screen menu.

Be sure that the "video" connection you are using matches the video output you have enabled!
