I have a 98 VW Golf and need to replace the cigarette lighter. I've removed all of the trim around the lighter and removed it away from the dashboard but i cannot remove the lighter itself. Any suggestions?
I have a Ford Focus 2001, The lighter unit is not working and I have checked the fuses which are fine. I cannot seem to get the unit out of the dash, it comes out so far and something is stopping it. Any ideas?

If you have already bought a new one you should be able to tell by looking at it if it is screwed in or has a clip,also mostlighters will not come out until you have all the wires off.

there is a lug on the unit of the lighter. pull it back then the lighter will pop out
