How to fix my Janome Memory Craft 3500?

Hi, I have a computerised Janome memory craft 3500. I have lost my book to it and and I'm really a novice when it comes to sewing machines.
I'm have trouble with the stitches. It is missing some when I sew, wether it be a straight line or zig zag. I have changed the needle. I don't know wether the tension is right either.
Could you please help as I'm stumped on what it is.

Hello Rach,
It sounds like the machine needs retiming which you can do yourself if you can get to the bottom of the machine under the raceway, I can attach timing instructions if you e-mail me and remind me of your problem.
