Maxi Bahama 100 combi?

Hi

I have inherited a Maxi Bahama 100 in my new flat. And would like to ask a question about the boiler. I am new to combi boilers, but my problem is when I turn on the hot water the boiler takes along time to ignite the pilot light to heat the water. Thus wasting allot of water before I get any hot water.

I have spoke to a colleague at work who uses a combi and he says the boiler usually ignites up when the demand for hot water is asked for.

Can you advise me on how I may cure this delay in the boiler igniting up for hot water. I have read it could be a flow sensor that may need cleaning???.

I would appreciate any help,

Kind regards

Without seeing it mate its hard to say. You can clean out the fliow switch its a simple job. Look for the mains water into the boiler it will be a 15mm pipe with an isolation valve on it (If you look at the scratching on the backplate to ensure its the hot tap inlet pipe). Turn it off and open a hot tap that is below the boiler. (make sure the water stops or nothing comes out.) Once you have done this follow the pipe to a black circular shaped plug with two wires coming off it. slowly unscrew this abit of water will come out but most should come out of the tap if you leave it open. Once you have unscrewed this you see the swith has a little paddle inside. Give this a clean over with some kitchen roll clean up inside the pop it back in. Turn the water back on and give it ago. Good luck
