Panasonic dmr e75v wont play some dvd's - any ideas folks?

My Panasonic dmr e75v wont play some dvd's - it plays those cheap one's which you get free in the paper, but not the professional DVD's which we buy from shops. This appeared to happen when I tried to record from VHS to DVD at one time, then I had the above issue - any help appreciated.
