Ocean Alpha 240 eco Combi bolier water pressure increase?

I have an Ocean Alpha 240 eco combi boiler and I too have to leave the heating on for about 15 minutes set to 24 degrees on the wall/room thermostat in order to get hot water in my bathroom. I have noticed that the needle is low when the boiler is cold. Also in the summer and when set only to hot water, if i do not tap the 5 x rads off then they get warm. Maybe I should get a new boiler? Was thinking of a Worcester Bosch...

I have also had some problems and replaced the heat exchanger but also the diverter valve as water was leaking into the heating systen when the hot water tap was run and vice versa and the old exchanger looked in good shape (I pressure tested it). these problems also caused the flame detector to burn out so eventually I had ended up with no hot water for a few days, and after all this I'm still not 100% satisfied that it is working correcty. I would suggest just getting a new boiler as this has already cost me £300!

what causes the water to only get hot by having the heating on as well?

also the inlet valve iprobably still open. once pressure of 2(ish) bar is reached this should be closed. Otherwise you will let new water come in constantly and old water will leak out thus letting in more hard water depositing its limescale before leaking out. Also my alpha 240e only gives hot water for a shower/bath when the heating has been on for 15mins or so. if not the hot tap is just luke warm any ideas? cheers

I have been told that the water is leaking through the heat exchanger in my similar ocean eco 240 boiler. So basically it will leak from the H/W side into the heating system side through the hole in the heat exchanger. Time to decide if its worth replacing the heat exchanger or just get a new boiler? I'm getting a new one. No it isn't dangerous because the water will leave the system at 3 bar through the safety valve. My H/W will no longer ignite and yours will probably start doing the same thing soon. Also you will find that when you turn the H/W tap on the water will be luke warm even though the Hot water is not switched on. further proof of the heat exchanger fault/hole. Good luck!

what does the pressure reading on the gauge of the boiler? it sounds like the pressure relief valve is blowing down.
