I changed the traction cable on a Toro self-propelled, model 20018, serial # 220045506. The old and new cables are the same length but the new one has too much slack to operate properly. I replaced the it exactly (?) like I removed it. What did I do wrong?
I have the same problem - have what appears to be an additional 2 inches? Any other solution?

Bill, I am not an expert. Actually was looking for instructions to change the traction cable myself. Everything I have read says the belt rides on the edge of the pulley, not bottomed on itl That should increase your tension. Also, do not forget to the lubricate the gears in the rear wheel, these can make it as hard to push as a bad belt.
