ck's answer is correct - from my experience. However I managed to get a replacement thermal fuse from a small electrical appliance retailer / repairer - at a fraction of the price of a new element. Good luck!!

think there is two thermal links built into element.normally you find one or the other open circuit.you will need a multimeter to test this and you will have to remove back panel to gain access to heating element.if it is this then you have to buy whole element.not that cheap!!!
