how do i stop a radiator leaking - the water is coming out of the tap which turns the radiator on and off

take off the white cap ontop of the rad valve,.there will be a small nut which if u tighten up turning it clockwise (whilst making sure you are holding the valve still with ure grips /other spanner) it should cure the leak. good luck .

whats the ptfe for when changing just a rad valve ?

Drain the system and fit a new valve only cost a few pound don't forget you need to get some inhibitor when you refill system and PTFE tape for the connections
