HOW CAN I FIX MY EPSON R300?

CHANGED 3 CARTRIDGES AND STATUS MONITOR SAYS, "SERVICE REQUIRED.SOME PARTS INSIDE ARE AT THEIR END OF SERVICE LIFE"!

I HAVE ONLY USED THE PRINTER FOR 18 MONTHS. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THANKS

I found a neat little trick online years ago for my R300 where u take off the back pannel and pull out the ink overflow tube and run it into a plastic bottle which now sits on the back of my printer, you can see exactly how much ink u use just turning your printer off+on or cleaning jets. This avoids your ink tray filling up.
You can also simply mop up the ink every now and then using kitchen towels, just open the printer lid, and press a load of towels on the left hand side where u can see the sponge which holds the ink, i used to do this all the time till i found the plastic bottle fix! you will need a little tube tho which fits into the existing one to go to your bottle, get one from b+q of hardware store.

To the person who gave the three buttons answer to fixing the Epson R300, many thanks your solution worked perfectly. The money for a new printer was the least problem, this R300 is a great printer, wondeful to have it back, Thanks again. Good luck. Irish eyes smiling.

People take their Epson R300 into a repair shop because "it needs a service" and the disgusting this is that when you have left the shop they have a little trick that they don't tell you about but when you collect your printer thinking they have replaced certain parts or had your machine in bits to repair it, and it has cost you more than fifty pounds, all they have done is pressed 3 buttons and your printer is fixed, taking about 20 seconds to do it.

This is what you do.............switch the printer off, use 3 fingers to press 3 buttons at the same time (the stop button, the print button & the little grey button below them with a light above it). While your fingers are pressing these buttons down, turn the machine on, you will hear an awful grating noise and may probably think that you have broken it but allow this to continue until the grating stops, usually about 5-10 seconds. That's it done! You can now get back to printing.

hold power+paperjam+stop to reset the counter(beware this can lead to ink all over where your printer sits after a short time)

Sounds like the ink tank is full and the printer is calling for a service engineer - don't panic! Every time you switch on your printer, or change the ink, the printer cleans the heads by flushing ink through them. This leads to a load of waste ink in the bottom of your printer. In order not to get a messy desk Espon have put a counter on the flushing activity and the error is saying this counter has reached the maximum.
To fix this error you need to reset this counter. Try this little utility http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/SSC-Service-Utility.shtml it worked for me
