Mend NTL V2000 Reset Lost Manual

NTL V2000 - how do I reset the answering machine?

I have lost the instruction manual for this phone. I cannot figure out how to reset the message on answering machine. Can anyone help please? Thanks!

NTL NTL V2000 Telephones, Answering Machines Reset Lost Manual

It works! Press the clear/mute button then 7 then 1. This chooses the message record option. Then press clear/mute again!

I had mine stuck on answer only, not record. I though the message I had sounded quite rude. '...you can not leave a message.'!
