I have this same problem on an 04 cmax. How do I fit the new microswitch?

I know the microswitch needs replacing but how do u do it?. I cant find a Haynes manual. Do I remove the big panel on the inside of tailgate? as it must have extra hidden fixings, as removing the 2 visible screws in the holes were not enough. Or is it accessible somehow from outside around the number plate lights & trim.

i bought a new microswitch myself from the Ford Dealer who said that the part no had changed (obviously been improved). Undid the 2 screws that hold the inside panel on in the hatch and pulled it away from the hidden panel clips and changed it myself. No further problems!!

Hi
I have also had the same fault with my 04 CMAX
I heard from a mechanic at my local ford dealers that this was a known fault (something wrong with the seal). Although on my 2nd visit they claimed they had never heard of this fault before & there was no recall information or any other information on their system.
I ended up paying £60 for a new boot release switch (on Wed 9th April) & then we had heavy rain on fri 11th April & it started releasing again. (It is now booked in again this wed 16th)
I would love to here how you got on with your boot & if you have managed to fix your & how it was done & how much it cost you.
(Trying to get some Ammo for dealing with the garage)

Thanks in advance for any info you can give me (& hope some of the info I have given you is helpful)
Kind Regards
Carla
