Mend Hoover 1600 Washing Machine Pump Spinning

washing machine not emptying?

Hoover 1600 soft wave washing machine works "normally", ie going through cycle, spinning etc, but water is not being emptied. We have checked the bit at the front of machine, removed small amount of fluff, but we suspect the problem is with the pump. Is this something we can tackle ourselves, or will we need an expert?

Changing the pump is straight forward enough, but do make sure it is definately the problem first or you could lose a fair bit of money. The problem could lie with the control PCB, and these are not cheap or readily available.
