Go to FixYa.com and you'll learn how to take it apart. In addition to the four easy to find screws there is one under the large gray cord release button. You have to use a tool to pop off the button. Once you have taken out this final screw, you can pull the canister apart and have access to the cord wind mechanism. This is attached via two wires so be careful not to pull those off as you inspect the cord. Beyond this, I have no more expertise to offer.
