power connector repair creates problem?

It is most likely that the ribbon that connects the mouse pad to the mobo is not seated properly. If you didn't take it off on purpose, then it was probably snatched a little loose. If you did disconnect the ribbon, it is probably just not in it's seat good. Both are very easy mistakes. As for the Power Bar not lighting up, that is probably a loose connection again.
Now the bad news: If the battery is not charging & the computer doesn't detect a charging process then you did the same thing I did my 1st time. Here's a list:
1) The mobo must be cleaned thoroughly (No solder left at all).
2) Prepping the connections w/ flux is not required, but when working on very sensitive electronics, it will virtually guarantee an even flow of solder.
3) Heating the metal parts before soldering makes the solder run into all of the crevices as well as keeps you from burning the mobo (disaster).
4) Using solder that is too heavy of a mixture for the application will keep the power from flowing anywhere. All electronics are not the same. Mobo's need very soft solder mixture. Get the softest you can find at Radio Shack.
