Possible failure of drum bearings.
Sagging drum rubbing against inside of tub, causing excess load on motor during spin cycle.
To Test:
With no water or washing in the drum, push and pull the drum gently in and out, and up and down. If there is any significant motion accompanied by a slight 'clunk' the bearings have probably disintegrated and will need to be replaced.
Probable replacement parts:
Bearing set (approx £18)
Bearing Seal (Approx £7)
Possible replacement parts:
Spider/Shaft Assembly (Approx £30)
Drum drive belt (Approx £10)
Worst Case replacement parts:
Plastic Tub assembly (Don't Know - guess £100)
Some previous experience of dismantling and rebuilding washing machines required.
Previous experience of, and tools for removing and replacing bearings required.
