mercedes sprinter 313cdi (02 plate) will not start?

I,m having problems starting my sprinter 313cdi. It started yesterday after a couple of minutes turning the ignition.The day before I had to jump start it and it started.The battery is fine and I have had it on charge constantly..This morning it just wouldnt start.I replaced the fuel filter thinking that would cure the problem but still it doesnt fire up.The glow plug light comes on and goes out as normal so i,m thinking that should be fine.I havent checked the glow plug relay because I dont know where it is. I,m completley lost as what to do.Someone suggested I get it towed and that might get the fuel circulating in it but the van is loaded and thats difficult.so can anyone HELP!!

hi can anyone help or give advice on my 02 cdi 2.1 sprinter please, it goes brilliant for 2-3 weeks then lets out little puff of smoke from exhaust,engine goes noisy, then go in limp mode,if i turn key off then turn back on it goes ok for another 2-3 weeks,i have replaced pressure convertor valve, fuel fitler, and battery all new genuine parts from merc. also loosened injectors 1by1 as engine is running 1 injector has no affect to running other 3 stops engine could this be problem or can you advise asap many thanks tony

I have a problem of starting my 2004 sprinter in the mornings, I have had the glow plugs, fuel filter and battery replaced, alternator giving out correct reading as well but still it wont start in the mornings or after 4 hours once started. only starts with a jump start or a little push or even rolling it 5-6 meters on a slope gets it going. Cant understand whats causing this to happen

my sprinter (03)311cdi had the same problem,tried changing fuel filter,put on a hand primer,changed glow plugs and battery but still the same!!!that just left the injectors,found somewhere though that on the fuel rail there is a pressure control valve,that has three washers inside,if these are worn,the engine wont build up enough pressure to start.these costed a £5 from merc.im told this dsolves a lot of these problems,but unfortunately not mine.it was the dreaded injectors,which in itself is not a big job until you discover merc have problem with them sticking in the head!!!!these babies were welded in,we tried everything to get them out,in the end we had to break off the rocker cover and take off the head,then hope that when we knocked them out we didnt crack the head!!!we got lucky, a local engine specialist says this is a major problem now and they bought a deep freeze to help but it is still touch and go.we got two out ok and they were recon'd,but we had to buy two new injectors at £150 each.then there was gaskets rethreading all the holes,a new rocker cover £100,and just general hassle with timing etc.lucky enough my friend is a mechanic so the labour was cheap,but it was still very costly.this however WAS the problem and the van is now fine.don't know if this will help you or not,could be something different,seems a lot can go wrong with them!!!

could be air getting in the system or injector problem,
get some easy start and spray a little bit in the air filter pipe
if it starts you no its one of too problems?

I too have same problem but only when temp is below freezing,have you found out what it is yet?
