Did they do any testing before condemning the pump?
Did anyone put a gauge on the fuel line to check for pressure?
Is the engine management light on, or has it been on recently?
Did they use 'tech2' diagnostics to check the readings of other components such as coolant temp, crank sensor signal, battery power etc and check for stored codes?
Did the car run ok when it was starting?
A new diesel pump is hellishly expensive, and once it's on you need to haul it to a Vauxhall dealer to get the ECU coded to the car with 'tech2'.
The pumps do fail, but often it is just something else like the crank sensor failing. If that fails the ECU doesnt know the engine is turning so it doesnt deliver fuel.
