Mend Whirlpool Machine Out Balance

Machine is OUT OF BALANCE?

Recently our Wirlpool cloths washer is always out of balance during the spin cycle, even without cloths in the unit. I have noticed that the agitator seems to have excessive side to side play (~3/16"). I pulled the 2 caps and everything (except for the side play) seems ok. Let me know if you have any thoughts.

Hello,

I would take the cabinet off the washer to make sure one (or more) of the three suspension springs or counter weight spring has not broke or fell off. Do you know how to take the cabinet off?
