I'm afraid I cannot you provide with a specific answer.
All I can say is that we have also had a major problem - the (Steamglide 2200) iron was sat upright on the ironing board when it just exploded and blew the fuses in the house.
I replaced it's fuse and tried to switch on; the same thing happened !
I have had a quick look behind the panel where the cable enters the iron and it is black with powder - so clearly there is some electrical problem in that area.
Have your faults been similar to this ?
