Mend Morphy Richards Steam Glide Stopped Working

Is there a common fault with Morphy Richards Steam Glide?

My Morphy Richards Steam Glide stopped working after one year, as did the same irons bought by my mother, my sister and 2 other friends all within 2 years of purchase. Is there a common fault with these irons? Morphy Richards have told all of us to send them back by post and they will see what they can do!!!!!

I'm afraid I cannot you provide with a specific answer.
All I can say is that we have also had a major problem - the (Steamglide 2200) iron was sat upright on the ironing board when it just exploded and blew the fuses in the house.
I replaced it's fuse and tried to switch on; the same thing happened !
I have had a quick look behind the panel where the cable enters the iron and it is black with powder - so clearly there is some electrical problem in that area.
Have your faults been similar to this ?
