The only way of getting it off is as follows (It's a bit technical, but I'll try and explain it in laymen's terms):
Get two pairs of plyers, clamp on to two fins on opposite sides of the fan and pull...... hard....... a liberal dose of WD40 will never go a miss either.
If this doesn't work, pull harder................
