Mend Volkswagen Golf GTI Door Lock

Volkswagen golf gti 1999 5 door?

I am replacing the whole inner metal panel on the drivers door as the window mechanism collapsed but need to unplug the cable from the door lock mechanism. Is ther a simple way to do this?

yes you needto locate rubber grommet on the end of door close to door handle remove this and while holding the handle out screw the torx screw until it goes tight this then allows the key baarrel to be removed and you can then access and removelock cable from outside
