Bissell Proheat 7950 Automix Valve Allignment?

My Bissell Proheat 7950 Carpet Cleaner motor and belt just replaced, now I cannot figure how the gray knob alligns with the proportioning valve underneath. I have a new knob and a new valve. I don't see how the valve and knob attach. When I try to attach it, it doesn't center up.
