What do the Smeg symbols mean?

I just moved into a new place equiped with a Smeg dishwasher. I don't know what model it is. There are 4 symbols showing various stages of wash I assume, but the dial has numbers 1-5? I tried using it on 1 and it very slowly clicked through to 5 (almost 2 hours to wash!)

What do the symbols and the numbers on the dial mean???
