How can I unlock door on my Peugeot 205 GL?

Peugeot 205 GL (1990) It's the driver's side door that when locked using key from outside would very sometimes (very rarely) not unlock using key, but after trying to unlock from the inside with gentle persuasion would unlock after a couple of minutes. But now it's stuck. The inside little stick comes up slightly but something seems to be jamming the mechanism.

I had this problem, replaced the locks and the latch mechanism itself, but still had the problem. When i next took it for a service the garage fixed it. they said that the connecting bar between the door handle and the latch was rusted and was seizing up, they fixed it, not sure if they replaced the part or just released the parts and lubricated. has been fine since and have put the old lock and latch back on because the new lock i bought was rubbish.

I tried this and after two hours I got the door open. I stripped off
everything and after opening and closing it about 5 times it locked itself again. By then it was too dark to see what is going on.
I will have a look again tomorrow after work when I have more light.

I have the same problem with my passenger door, last week after
pulling up the button repeatedly it came open. You have activate the inside lever to do that. It worked for half a day and then locked itself again. I am still battling to get it open again, I suspect that there is a latching mechanism that malfunctions but as long as it is
locked I can't get to it. Please keep me posted if you have more
luck me. I'll give it another go later on.
