my panasonic dvd player won't open?

i have a 5 disk player and the door wont open. i put in a dvd that someone made and gave me and now the machine won't do anything. It keeps telling it is reading the disk. ANY advice is appreciated.

turn the dvd player off at the mains for about 10 secs then turn mains back on this should put it into stanby then press the draw eject button before anything else either on the remote control or on the dvd player if this doesnt work unplug it and take the top cover off you should be able to lift the disk out
