sony cdx-m800 problems after installing new ribbon cable?
Hi, the ribbon cable that goes from the main unit to the front flip unit had snapped in half so I bought a new one and replaced it, now the only buttons that work are the flip open button on the front when closed, the eject button on the reverse flip when open and the closed button also on the reverse flip, neither of the screens light up and no cd plays, any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
be sure the ribbon cable is connected inside the main unit as it would come out on mine if the clip was not secure.
it two attemps before i got it locked in correctly.
it is a very poor designe , but simply plan for a replacement every year ! especialy if you live in a northern climate as the copper inside gets stiff in cold.
never fails first real cold day after summer every year it dies on mine

Hi!
The most common problem would be that the ribbon does not connect securely in the slots. Make double sure that slot is closed securely to make an effective connection. Hope this solves it.
