Poor Renault Radio Reception?

Renault 2006 Mégane/Laguna poor radio reception..
Been plagued with this for 3 years. Tried all sorts, resetting, changing Ariel etc etc.
Recently saw a post regarding clearing faults on cars. The advice was to disconnect both battery leads and, using 1 jump lead, connect both of the battery leads together (note !!! NOT THE BATTERY TERMINALS !!!).
I did this and left it connected for 30 minutes.
Reconnected to the battery and low and behold, I now have a Renault Factory Fitted Radio that receives clearly, every station it was meant to .
Apparently, connecting the terminals together dumps the vehicles user defined memory and sets it back to "Factory". IT WORKS!!!
