replacing rear oil seal fordson major 1958?

can i replace the rear oil seal by just removeing the fly wheel without dropping the sump and crank shaft seal rope type

Unfortunately No...! you need to drop the sump and then the crankshaft, the rope type seal is in two half's and its a big job, so unless you have the time and know how I'd just keep on putting oil in the top end...!
