All functions work when I manually turn the program selector step by step - it will not work through the selected program cycle automatically - is this a known problem - can it be fixed

I have the same washer/dryer but it does not heat up when washing. How would I know if the element is burnt out?

there is a thermostat located on top of the drum next to the dryer motor that you can easily access by removing the top cover. this may be faulty. if this is ok then the heating element has proberbly burnt out. this is next to the thermostat.
