STEERING?

ihave a ford c max and am getting the message power sterring assistance it goes of and on at times the car is a 06 plate help

Chris ...sounds to me like your driving style is a little wrong as the steering shouldn't automatically return to the central position unless you release your hands from the wheel. What you need to check first are the pressures and condition of the tyres, tracking and suspension. Does the vehicle have power assisted steering? Have you checked the fluid level to the power steering resevoir if it has?
