Slipping and sliding in car passenger seat?

Whenever my husband is obliged to apply the brakes suddenly when driving the car, I shoot forward in the passenger seat, causing a whiplash like pain in my lower back.
Tightening the seat belt doesn't help.
Is there any solution? Or should I just take the bus?
Thanks.

HI Elaine,
1/ As suggested by Jane, your seat belt should hold you secure if it is serviceable.
2/ The fact that you get a pain whenever this happens is not good and you may have an underlying medical problem that should be addressed.
3/ Tell your husband that road awareness should reduce the amount of times that he has to "slam the brakes on" and that he may want to attend an advanced drivers course to help him drive more "smoothly".
Cheers now

Your seat belt should automatically lock when the brake is applied suddenly. That is what stops you going through the windscreen if you are in an accident. You should have it tested by a mechanic. Not certain but I believe that they are tested during MOT. You could always go on the bus, but with no seat belts you might be less safe!!!
