Answer to Zanussi TDS383w not heating?

There's lots of questions on this site and few answers. Here's what I did when my TDS383w stopped heating up. I looked at various websites and bought a thermostat. To fit it into it's socket is simple. However to get at the 54 deg thermo socket is hard as it's below the drum. Take the top off the dryer by removing two nut head screws at the rear. The top lifts a little and then slide it back. Easy. The side panel requires 4 or 5 screws ( there's 4 close to the top of panel) one or two on back panel, one near the bottom at air outlet, to be removed. Continued in answer...!!!

Continued. Anyway I fitted the new thermostat and it still didn't heat. New plan. There is a plastic cover with lots of holes on the back panel. Remove 3 screws in centre of panel. Pop off plastic panel/cover. Remove 6 or 7 screws holding large stainless steel /metal cover. The heating element is thus revealed. I noticed my heating element. It's like a long spring coiled back and forward in a metal frame. Ah ha, The spring had snapped! Solution: replace element. Hope this is a help to others,
regards Iain
