Mend Cut Alarm Install

I cut a motion detector wire and then reattached it and now the alarm won't?

In order to install a built-in cabinet I had to remove a motion detector and cut the wires. Then I reattached the wires each to the same colors and then reinstalled the motion detector in the same place. Now the key pad has two lights one showing ready and the other showing trouble. The alarm won't reset and beeps twice about every thirty seconds or so and will sometimes sound the alarm. There is a metal lock box in the closet where the alarm plugs in but I don't have the key but I can get a lock smith to open it and make new keys. The model # on the box is DSC Power 832 PC 5010. The house and alarm is about eight years old. If anybody can help me solve this problem I would really appreciate it. Thank You.

Hi,
Sounds like you have blown the auxillary fuse in the panel. These are normally 20mm glass fuses rated between 315mA - 1A.
Try that first, but remember by opening that cover you are exposing live electrical connections.

By cutting the wires you have triggered the "Tamper" circuit, the system will need a reset, this is for the PC5015 but I suspect the 5010 will be the same.

Enter [*] [2] to view the trouble conditions – The Trouble light will start flashing
One or more zone lights will come on to indicate the problem
1 Service Required – Press [1] to see the problem on the zone lights:
Zone 1 Low Battery
Zone 2 Bell Circuit Trouble
Zone 3 General System Trouble (Printer etc.)
Zone 4 General System Tamper (Peripheral Tamper)
Zone 5 General System Supervisory.

2 AC Failure
3 Telephone Line Trouble
4 Failure To Communicate
5 Zone Fault
6 Zone Tamper
7 Low Battery On Wireless Device
8 Loss Of Time On System Clock

( you should expect to see 6 at this stage )

Clearing the trouble condition will depend on what the problem is.
1 Service Required – If a low battery is the only problem, check
the battery fuse. Also if the AC has been off recently, the
battery may need to be recharged. For other circuit / system
troubles check appropriate wiring etc.
2 AC Failure – Check fuses etc. Reconnect AC
3 Telephone Line Trouble – Check phone line wiring.
4 Failure To Communicate – Check phone line wiring.
5 Zone Fault – Press [5] to see the zone(s) affected. Check
zone wiring
6 Zone Tamper – Press 6 to see the zone(s) affected. Restore
the tamper.
7 Low Battery On A Wireless Device – Press [7] 1, 2, or 3 times
to view the various devices on the zone lights:
1 Wireless Zone
2 Handheld Keypads
3 Wireless Keys
8 Loss of Time on system clock – Any attempt to set the system
clock will also clear this trouble.

If the Trouble light is flashing press hash [#].
The trouble light will now be off or on steady, depending whether any trouble conditions still exist.
