1998 transit 100 starting problem?

sometimes my transit will not attempt to start. it has a new starter motor and ignition switch with keys re-programmed. it will start sometimes and seconds later refuse to start with no attempt to turn the starter and no clicking noise heard with all dash lights showing normal. could it be the imobilizer and should i try disconnecting it?
