Iam going to put in a new boiler and unvented hot water cylinder in my home. please who makes the best boiler for this? And who makes the best mains cylinder. I want them to last for as long as possible. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you

In my opinion the best unvented cylinder on the market is megaflo. They come with a 25 year guarantee and are easy to maintain. They have an internal air gap rather than an external expansion vessel which saves a bit of room. As for the boiler, well all boilers have there good and bad points. I would go with a system boiler over a conventional one as pressurised systems are more economical. Baxi manufacture a boiler called the baxi megaflo which is marketed at people who have a megaflo tank. The baxi megaflow is a sedbuk rated band A appliance which means its around 90-95% efficient. Having said all that, any conventional or system boiler will be compatible with a megaflo. When you come to get your system fitted make sure they are quallified to fit unvented hot water cylinders as they are alot different to normal ones and can be extremely dangerous if not fitted by a proffessional.

When you say you are going to install, do you mean D.I.Y? If so, then you can't. The regulations require that you are competent (meaning you have proven your competence and are a member of an organisation such as corgi).
Even just fitting an unvented cylinder require's a seperate certification.
If you are planning to have the work carried out by registered installer's then they will advise you.
Best plan is to have people in your area recommend installers they have used and get quote's from at least three of them
