Mend Ford Transit Indicators Turn Indicator

how do I fix the indicators on my transit?

the left turn indicator on my 1993 2.5 diesel transit stopped working. I could hear a rapid ticking coming from the relay and replaced that. but that didnt fix it. all the bulbs are ok as the hazards work fine, what is the problem?
