Ive got a 1.4 mk6 fiesta and my engine warning light has started to come on too,intermitently tho, just after the 3rd annual service. Have been told if the warning light starts blinking then you must not drive the vehicle any further. If it is just a constant light then you can drive as normal but not to push it too hard. If you do find out why the light is on please let me know.
