Mend Singer 7444 Foot Pedal Machine

Singer 7444 - foot pedal sticks on brand new machine!?

Just out of the box! Just doing a straight run at fairly high speed, the machine continues to stitch for several seconds after taking my foot off the pedal - does this need repair shop, or should I have my husband take it apart? (He is fairly handy with this sort of repair.)

Hello Meg.
If it runs on only for a few seconds it is most probably a sticky pedal, if your husband is handy then open the foot control, you should find a large spring inside, stretch it up a little bit.
