Mend Zanussi FJS-1197W Washing Machine Motor Drum Bearings

Zanussi FJS-1197W Commutator?

I have been told that the commutator on my Zanussi FJS-1197W is stepped, what does this mean? Do I need to replace the motor or anything like that. I have had new brushes fitted and new drum bearings. The motor is noisy.
