how may I fix my royal 10x paper shredder?

Double check if the front door is properly closed and if top part (which contains the mechanism) is properly aligned, otherwise the mechanism's safety micro switch is not commuted.

My model is Royal 100X and has this safety switch driven by the frontal basket lid. The basket needs to be properly inserted to switch on this safety feature and turn on main power.
In my case, when shredder does not work, I check it with a small screwdriver to touch this micro switch, but with extreme caution ! Then I check if the reverse is working.

If this does not work, maybe you would need to open the mechanism and check for a broken fuse, but do this unplugged from power socket. And beware of the rotative knifes, as they are sharp! Use a vacuum cleaner (or better - a brush) to remove paper debris and reassemble the mechanism. Pay attention to check rubber cushions between metal chassis and plastic housing.

If the light isn't on, most likely the removable bin isn't all the way in and
activating the safety switch. It can be the main board, or the fuse on the main board, but hope it's as simple as the safety switch...
