Mend Washing Machine Filter Replace

the rubber on the filter has come out of place and I dont know where i shou?

I took the filter out to clean it as washing machine was not spinning properly. After cleaning the muck off it i tried replacing the filter back. But it would not go back. The rubber was tangled up. i have tried replacing but dont know how it should go on correctly.
