If it is a kenmore front loader then first shut off the power and unplug it, then using a putty knife press in on the clips that are located in the gap between the top and the front. they are about 2 inches in from each side. the top tilts back. Remove the two 5/16 screws just inside the lip.
Lift the front about 1 inch up to disengage it from the clips and remove it. the drum will sag down. (check felting to be sure teflon glides are still in place at top of felt) when reinstalling front, it is easier to remove door first. the belt will install after removing the drum by the 3 screws inside the drum at the back. (check the teflon socket in the back for wear or the drum rollers depending which model you have) the ribbed portion contacts the drum and be sure to make sure the belt correctly goes around the idler which is mounted on a piece of spring steel. just be patient when reassembling the front.
