if it is a whirlpool awm 328 i had the same problem .So what i done was to unplug the electric first.drain the machine from the filter at the front and clean the filter .then take back plate off rear of machine.in the bottom left hand side you should see the black pump make sure electric is off.disconnect the cable attached by pushing in the clip and gently pulling the connection.undo the three screws and remove pump.clean around the pump ,i found an elastic band wrapped around the impeller stopping the pump from working which in turn told the machine not to spin.pull the impeller out being careful not lose the rubber rings and clean all the muck from in the casing of the pump.put the pump back together put screws back in.at this point while you have got access to the back i would check the grey drainage pipe for blockages with a pair of pliers to remove the ring then pull pipe off ,i did this and found three five pence pieces.reconnect everything and hopefully that was your problem fixed
