I had a similar thing happen to my Panasonic TAU 37"TV and almost gave it away to a gamer..He was nice enough to show me where the 6Amp fuse was inside the box, so Now I can impress my Wife with my Daring and knowhow..
Be very careful if you try to do it yourself.
Might want to wear a couple of Pair of synthetic rubber gloves as some parts carry a lethal charge even when unplugged.
I had trouble finding the same location inside the TV the next time it blew, so your best bet in locating it would be to get a $6 continuity detector at Home Depot and check both ends of the many fuses inside your TV and if they are still good, go on to the next one...if you find one that seems dead..Pull it out using a paper clip shaped into a fish hook and take it to Radio Shack for a replacement.
My 3 year old panasonic tv keeps blowing its 6 amp fuse about every 2-3 weeks. I'll shut the TV off at night and when I try to turn on the TV the next day it will turn on for a moment then shut off and not come back on. .
I'd bought a pkg of 5 fuses for ~$1, but the last time, couldn't find them so I wrapped foil around the fuse until I could locate more fuses..
Then I forgot about it and think ...(pray) it may have happened again ~8 months later.
I was about to wrestle with it again tonight, but it weighs about 3 times as much as my Wife..And She won't help, so I thought I'd look here on Cyberspace for pointers before I go through my stretching exercizes and try to replace again...
I know it's very dangerous using Foil or a larger fuse, but what else can be done to eliminate the almost monthly tag-team rastling with the TV and the rocket launcher I built to hold it?
And if it has indeed burned through the foil I used, should I get more life insurance?
